In 2014 Chunichi Craft started a business partnership with the Kagiyaso Company, and currently we mainly do research and development about the Mameshiba dog breed at Kagiya Kennel.
Introduction of the Kagiya Kennel
There are always two staff members at the kennel 24/7.
Keeping the kennel clean at all-times is a very difficult task. We try to provide the best possible living conditions to create an ideal breeding environment for the dogs. We want the dogs to live a comfortable life.
Features of the kennel
- A natural environment full of plants
- The number of dogs is 50 or fewer.
We restrict the number of dogs to maintain good management control.
- There is enough space for all the dogs.
We provide enough space to create a stress-free environment
- The dogs have 2 daily walks, in the morning and evening Taking walks is not only for the dogs' exercise but is also for walking practice for dog exhibitions.
- Cool mist showers are provided In summer when it is hot, we keep their temperature cool by providing mist shower.
When the dogs are ready to give birth, they are put into a fully equipped delivery room with good air conditioning management.
The new born puppies' weight and physical condition are checked every day.
In case of an emergency, they are immediately transported to our partner veterinary hospital.
Also, before the puppies' vaccination we provide them with a sterilized room and give them enough running space for a healthy growing environment.
Puppy's quality standards
We only select high quality and healthy breeding dogs according to the "Dog Breeding Standards" of the Japanese Dog Preservation Association, to make sure the best genes of the parent and ancestor dogs are passed on to the puppies.
Also, although inbreeding can amplify good genes, there is a risk of amplifying bad genes, so we do not carry out this procedure.
About Mameshiba dog breeds
Currently the Mameshiba dog breed is not officially recognized as a dog breed.
Today, these dogs are being breed and sold without any breeding standards causing various problems. As a result, KC Japan created a standard that depicts the ideal image of what the Mameshiba dog breed should be. KC Japan became the world's first pedigree issuing organization to authorize Mameshiba.
Standards of Mameshiba (KC Japan)
|Body height||Male 25～34cm
An adult dog which is 1 year or older and falls within the standard height will be certified as "Mameshiba dog".
The Mameshiba certified parent dogs which have continued for 3 generations will be regarded as "Mameshiba".
At Kagiyaso we currently own 10 Mameshiba certified dogs.

The history of Kagiyaso Chunichi Craft President Yo Mouri
|1951||Early days of Kagiyaso.
Yo Mouri (then 18 years old) went to a dog exhibition in Japan. He then started breeding Shiba dogs.
Shiba dog breeding was popular in the Shinshu area at that time, so he often went to Shinshu to learn about Shiba dogs.
|Around 1970||Successfully bred "Bunryu-gou" (male)
Yo Mouri bred the Bunryu-gou dog breed which won the top prize in the male division of the nationwide adult dog exhibition but was withdrawn from the "Representative of Shiba dog's position". (Current the second highest prize nationwide)
|Around 1973||Theft of all his dogs
Mouri was enthusiastic and ready to work after an ideal female dog was born, but one night his good fortune turned into a nightmare. 2 breeding houses were burglarized, and 10 dogs were stolen.
He lost all his pedigree which he raised himself and was extremely discouraged. As a result, he stopped breeding Shiba dogs.
|Around 1991||One day he decided to go see the "Japan dog preservation nationwide exhibition" held at Ochiai Park in Kasugai City, Aichi Prefecture since it was near his house.
Talking with his friends made him reminisce about breeding dogs and this brought his desire back and made him decide to dog breed once again at Kagiyaso for the first time in 18 years.
|2004||At the nationwide exhibition, Sakurahime-gou (female) won second prize.|
|2011||At the nationwide exhibition, Mimezakura-gou (female) received the Prime Minister Prize. (Top Japan Dog Exhibition Award)|
|2014||Kagiyaso's kennel is newly established.
